About CCFN
History
The Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition (CCFN) was created out of a union of the mandates of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and the Canadian Food Information Council (CFIC) in 2004.
Working together, NIN and CFIC Board members created a stronger and more viable organizational structure, positioned to provide leadership in advocacy on nutrition policy matters and communication on critical food and nutrition issues within Canada.
CCFN is a new organization with a rich history of over 25 years of evidence based nutrition communication and advocacy work in Canada.
CCFN is a national, non-profit organization which acts as a catalyst in advancing the nutritional health and well being of all Canadians by:
- Championing evidence-based solutions to key nutritional issues affecting the nutritional health of Canadians
- Advocating for evidence-based nutrition policy in Canada
- Promoting public understanding of food and nutrition issues.
