Consumer Trends
Ethnographic Survey
The intriguing results of this Ethnographic Survey was presented at our AGM.
Consumer behavior is fascinating. What people say they do and what they actually do are not always the same. Food and nutrition habits are no exception. Using key findings from our Tracking Nutrition Trend 20 Year History Report, we developed our first ever Ethnographic Survey. We took a look at consumer food and nutrition habits using a different lens. This new methodology has added colour and depth to TNT findings through a detailed “show and tell” about consumers in terms of food, eating, mealtime, grocery shopping and more, while delving into related beliefs with regard to these ingrained behaviours.
We would like to acknowledge our generous partners:

History of TNT Surveys
The National Institute of Nutrition, one of the organizations The Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition was formed out of has a longstanding, well-respected history for developing a series of studies called "Tracking Nutrition Trends" (TNT). The studies looked at consumers' knowledge, attitudes and behavior on a wide variety of food and nutrition issues. To date, 7 surveys have been completed in the following years: 1989, 1994, 1997, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2008. We are committed to continue building on this series well into the future.
