October 29, 2009 - The Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition (CCFN) today released its 2009 Tracking Nutrition Trends (TNT): 'A 20 Year History report'. A key finding of the report is that food product labels continue to be Canadians most credible and highly used source of information on food and nutrition.

May 28, 2008 – Toronto – Childhood obesity continues to increase at an alarming rate – more than a quarter, or approximately 1.6 million Canadian Children, are overweight or obese. If current trends continue, the proportion of overweight or obese school-aged children will grow to more than 46 per cent by 2010.

Today marks the beginning of the Canadian Council of Food and Nutrition (CCFN) which emerges from a union of the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and the Canadian Food Information Council (CFIC). This new Council combines the expertise of both public and private sectors in the area of food and nutrition to become the trusted voice of Canadians in advocacy on nutrition policy matters and communication on critical food and nutrition issues within Canada.
